Southern Bastards

Been a while since I've updated the blog with some of my latest work. Here's a lil pinup I did for one of my favorite comic books out there right now, Southern Bastards. If you like ribs, visual images of old southern vigilante justice and more ribs then you'll love it! Also, the artist for SB, Jason Latour, posted this pic on his blog. Check it out there too and while you're at it, check out his incredible work and see why he's one of the best in the biz.www.jasonlatour.tumblr.com BTW: check out my instagram account under "frankophone" to look at a lot more of the work I've been up to. Cheers!

Disarm The Dark

It's been quite a while since I last updated the ol' blog (almost a year...). However, I have been drawing my arse off so. Here is a recent series I did for a non profit out of Montreal called Disarm The Dark. They work to spread the word about Human Trafficking. When I was asked to do this I really didn't know much about the subject. They sent me some research videos and I wrote down the first ideas that popped in my head. They are subtle and don't speak straight to the subject but these images were what I was seeing and feeling when I learned more. Human Trafficking is a terrible crime that digs it's claws in almost every corner of the Earth. Please visit www.disarmthedark.org and learn more. Cheers.

It's been a while since I've posted anything. Mainly because I've trapped myself in the cave that is my tiny studio apartment, illustrating until 5 in the morning most days. It's draining but very rewarding! Here is a wee snippet of the penciling from my first graphic novel titled Valiant. Hope it perks your interest for now. It's taking longer than I thought but I'm working hard to get it done. Cheers.

Since I did a pin up of the Marvel super heroes I thought it only be appropriate to do one of the DC characters, which are the ones I mostly grew up on. I think here I was more able to capture of the iconic characteristics of each figure than the other one. I showed it to a writer/illustrator for Marvel comics that I met with for coffee not too long ago. He wasn't too hyped on this one. Though to be fair, I asked his opinion. Hope you like it. Cheers

So a couple of weeks ago I endured maybe the hardest trial I have ever faced. A STYE. While I was sulking under my hot compress, I was asked by my friend Joseph Hurtgen to do a small comic to contribute to his blog. I had no clue what to do and had other projects I was working at the time. Then it dawned on me as by right eye swelled with pain that I should illustrate this very traumatic experience.
Make sure to check out his blog too. It's pretty great!
